2 weeks old

These past 2 weeks have flown by! We went to Kinsey's 2 week check up yesterday. She weighed 7 lbs 4 oz and was 21 in long. She is growing like a weed and is perfectly healthy! This has been the easiest transition. Keagan was a really good baby, and Kinsey is even better. Keagan and I had a hard time learning how to nurse and Kinsey picked it up in a day or two. Kinsey is luckier than her brother cause her mom actually knows what she is doing this time! Physically, this recovery has been a breeze. I don't feel like I even gave birth! I am very grateful for the small blessings!!
We were able to have Karlie, Dustin and my mom come out the day after Kinsey was born. Dustin was able to stay for a few days and my mom and Karlie stayed for a week and a half. The next weekend, my dad and Travis surprised us and flew in! It was so great having my family here! I never like to see them leave.
Here are a few of my favs from the past two weeks.....

Could Keagan be any cooler? Love it!
Grandma with the girl!
First bath at home. That is the cutest face!
I love love love this pic! Keagan loves his grandpa!
Auntie Karlie! Sorry everyone, but Karlie is a clear favorite of Keagans! The morning that everyone left, Keagan searched the entire apartment for aunt Karlie! He loves her!
Uncle Trav! Travis is SOOOO good with babies! I have never seen a teenage boy loves babies more than Travis! He is the cutest uncle!
Uncle Dustin! We were so happy we got to see Dustin! We decided that his forearm is bigger than Kinsey!
Grandma and her grandkids! My mom is in heaven!
Family photo in the hospital right before we went home!
Here are some pics from the photo shoot my mom and Karlie did. The pics, of course, turned out great!

Thanks to my family for coming out and helping us! You are awesome! We can't wait to see you guys in July!!

She's here!!!

Makinsey Denise was born on May 19, 2011 at 12:37 pm. She weighed 6 lbs 8 oz and was 20 in long. She is absolutely perfect and we are so excited that she is part of our family!
It was also the EASIEST delivery ever! I had gone to the Dr the day before and was told that I was dialated to a 4 1/2. I started having strong contractions in the middle of the night and we went to the hospital at 9:30 that morning. When I got there, I was dialated to a 6. We got admitted and I got my epidural by 11:00. My Dr. had the day off that day, but she still wanted to deliver the girl. She showed up at 12:00 and said that in order for her to be able to deliver our baby, I needed to have her by 2:00. So, she checked me and said that I was complete and broke my water. This was at 12:18. She wanted me to do a "practice" push before the calvary came in the room. About 1 second into the "practice" push, she told me to stop, cause she was almost out. So they called all of the nurses in and I pushed 2 more times and she was here! She came out crying and perfect. She scored 9, 10 and 10 on her APGAR scores and the nurses said that babies never score 10's. Truly perfect!
She is the calmest baby I have ever seen. She doesn't cry. If she needs something, she lets out a little squawk, and thats it! She already sleeps through the night. I have to wake her up to feed her and then she goes right back to sleep. She is really a blessing!!

Here are some pictures from the big day!

Don't you love modern technology? I was able to skype with my family before and after the delivery! My mom, Karlie and Dustin were already planning on driving out from Utah the next day, so they were bummed that they weren't there. Skype helped it a little bit!
First picture with daddy!
Keagan wasn't sure of his little sister at first!
Liking her a little bit more...
We are so glad that Makinsey is here and is healthy! Don't worry, there will be TONS of pictures in following posts!!

Ghetto Fabulous!

So when you are trying to finish a Ph.D and about to have a second child, you have to live life very simply. It has been HOTTTTT the past few days, so we decided to break out the ghetto fabulous pool!

One of the drawbacks to living in an apartment is that you don't have a hose or place to hook up a hose to! So in order to fill up our awesome pool, we improvised! It only took 500 trips from the sink with the pot full of water to be able to fill it up!!! Keagan loved it!

Getting ready to jump in!!

Keagan and his good friend Kurt chillin in the pool!
So fun!!!!!

One day we will hopefully have a little nicer pool! But we are loving every minute of the ghetto life we are living!!!!!

Sweater

Keagan is huge personality in a small body! In the past few months, Keagan has discovered a love of clothes. He will go in his closet and bring out an outfit that he wants to wear. His favorite outfit is a collared shirt and sweater. He has one sweater in particular that he will wear with EVERYTHING!! He will even get in the dirty clothes hamper to find his sweater to wear it. Here are some of the best outfits with the infamous sweater!!!

Hanging out in mom and dad's bed

Lounging in his toy chest after a long day!

Reading a great book in his p.j.s.

Exploring nature!

Hunting for Easter Eggs. This is a personal favorite... check out the shoes and pj bottoms with it! Love it!

Just lookin handsome!!

I am very glad that it is warm now and this sweater can disappear!!! I can't wait to see what the next favorite article of clothing will be!!

First Egg Hunt

Keagan participated in his first Easter Egg Hunt last night! A bunch of friends got together at a park and hid eggs! It was so much fun!! We went early to let Keagan play on the playground!! The poor boy has been locked up with his mother on house arrest (aka bed rest) and deserved a night out!!! He LOVED the playground. He would climb up the stairs and then go down the slide on his tummy all by himself! So big!!! Here are some pictures from our fun night.... Keagan refuses to look at the camera anymore. Good thing he is super handsome from all angles!!

Waiting for the egg hunt to begin with his friends.

He loved finding eggs and putting them in his basket.

So big!

Looking at all of his eggs!! He discovered today that there is candy in some of them. So now he shakes each one and then throws them on the ground to try and get the goods out! So smart!

Here is a video of Keagan searching for eggs!

As you can see, I busted out of jail and went to the egg hunt... might not have been following Dr's orders perfectly. But there was no way I could miss this! I had an appointment today. I am 34 weeks 2 days and I thought that I was going to be allowed to add some activities back... BUT my body doesn't agree and I am still a little too dialated and effaced, so I have to continue the modified bed rest for 2 more weeks. Teach me to try to bend the rules!! I will be on my best behavior the next 2 weeks... atleast I will try!

And so it begins....

What a big boy huh? He is constantly learning new words and tricks!! Everyday is such a joy with him!!! Here is a pregnancy update: I went to the Dr. after getting back from DC and was told that I am already dialated. I am just 30 weeks, so the Dr. wasn't too excited about that!!! They ran some tests and I am NOT in pre-term labor (which is great), but that I still have to be on a "modified bed rest". Basically, I stay at home and try to lay around as much as possible. I can't lift Keagan very much or do any household chores. I now have weekly appointments and hopefully I will maintain where I am and not progress any further. The moral of this story is that I am now content with only having 2 children!!! I had hoped that bed rest with Keagan was a fluke and that this time around would be different, but sadly I was wrong. I am just optimistic that I will be able to avoid full bed rest! I don't know how Brent and I would do that with Keagan! Poor Brent has to be the homemaker and breadwinner again! Atleast we know he can cook from the last go round, right? Everybody needs to pray that the poor guys survives this! He is such a great dad and husband. I wish that my body didn't wimp out with pregnancy!!! So this is what Keagan and I will be doing for the next little while..... laying on the couch!!!!

The final research trip!

This past month we were able to visit Washington DC! This is Brent's final research trip for is dissertation and there was no way that he was going without Keagan and me tagging along.

It was so great to be back in the DC area. I love it there!! Poor Keagan had a bad cold the entire time, so I don't think it was as pleasant for him. Here are a ton of pictures of our visit!

Keagan on the mall! So handsome!

Waiting for the metro

This is where Brent spent alot of his time... the National Archives.
Sadly, we spent most of our time wiping the poor boy's nose!

On the way back to our hotel after a long day!

Look at that sad, sick face! Still so cute though!
They are completely redoing the reflection pool, so it wasn't much to look at!

Abe and the fam!

Keagan LOVES stairs. He was in heaven going up and down the stairs to see Lincoln!
My 2 Nebraska boys at the WWII memorial.
We were able to spend a couple days with my good friend Nicolette and her family! It was soooo great seeing her and catching up! Keagan and her son, Gabe, hit it off. They would play, hold hands in the car, and just had a great time together!
Nic and I with our boys... Keagan would NOT smile!
Nic is having a little boy the end of April! Future boyfriend for our little girl due just a month later????

It was such a great trip! Brent tells me that we aren't going to travel as much anymore, especially with 2 kids... We'll see about that... I love traveling!!!
